"I have two complaints about this hotel. First, we requested a smoking room and was placed in a first floor room that smelled like it had been closed up and unused for months. It was very stale smelling, almost to the point of making me sick to my stomach. I am a smoker, and I am here to tell you the stink in that room was not the stink of stale cigarette smoke. My second complaint is the bartender refused to tune the televison to the Presidential Debate. We asked him if he would let us watch the debate in the bar and he said no. He said sports was more important. According to him, his customers didn't come into the bar to watch politicians debate, they came in to watch sports. So we decided to go to the lobby right outside the bar and watch it on a big screen TV located there. After we all got comfortable in our big leather chairs and couches, the bartender walked out to speak to me about something and realized there were more people in the lobby watching the debate with us than he had sitting in his bar watching his beloved sports. I stepped into the bar a little later to have a smoke, and noticed that he had changed one of his televisions to the debate but it was too late, the damage was done. The lobby of this hotel is quite comfortable. They have a great sports bar and a nice restaurant. The views from the restaurant and the lake side rooms are nice. We only spent two nights there, but were satisfied with everything but what I mentioned above. The location of the hotel isn't close to alot of shopping or restaurants, but they have a shuttle to downtown and the Anchorage area is easy to navigate if you have a rental car. It is an easy one mile drive to/from the airport but we didn't hear any airplane noise at the hotel. The decor in the rooms was very comfortable and pleasant to look at. The four poster cherry finish beds were a nice touch also. I would stay at this hotel again."
